During class on Sunday, try to find time to do at least 3 things:
- Discuss the coming “Pageant Photos” session on 11/18 at 2pm and draw names
- Watch a DVD on Moses (“the frustrated leader”) and discuss those who have helped lead us in following God. (I’ll be sure the TV is set up in the 4th & 5th grade classroom.)
- Come up with 5 or so questions to ask during “Faith Interviews” next week.
Open class with a game, or by sharing “highs” and “lows” from the week just past.
Pageant Photos will take place on 11/18. I will leave a bowl in your classroom with the name of everyone who is a potential candidate for the roles of Mary, Joseph, Gabriel, and Innkeeper. Please draw a 1st and 2nd (backup) actor for each of the four roles and fill out the sheet so that I know whose names have been drawn.
We’ve been talking about Moses and the Exodus. As we prepare for “Faith interviews” next week, watch the short (8 or so minute) DVD spot on Moses as a leader. (DVD will be in your classroom.) After the DVD is over, talk about people who have led you in faith. Who are they? How do they help you to pray? How do they help you to know or seek God? What kinds of things do they say that you remember?
Next week, we’ll invite a group of adults into the 4th & 5th grade classroom to answer questions about their faith. Some possibilities include: How did they come to follow Jesus? What do they love about the Church? What do they find difficult about following Jesus? How have they seen God at work in their own life?
Work with your class to come up with 5 or 6 questions that they want to be sure are included on the interview sheet. Return those questions to my box, too, so that I can be sure to type them up for next week.
Conclude your time together in prayer and thanksgiving.
